Nanu Oya, Sri Lanka – February 08, 2025 – In a bid to enhance Sri Lanka’s tourism experience, a new train service, “Ella Odyssey Nanu Oya,” officially commenced operations today, offering travelers a breathtaking journey through the country’s scenic hill country.
According to General Manager of Railways, Dhammika Jayasundara, the new train was introduced due to high demand from both local and foreign tourists seeking a comfortable and immersive travel experience.
The Ella Odyssey Nanu Oya will operate daily except on Tuesdays, departing from Nanu Oya at 8:10 AM and traveling to Badulla Railway Station. The return journey will begin from Badulla at 1:00 PM, making it a convenient option for travelers exploring Sri Lanka’s picturesque highlands.
A New Experience for Tourists
Unlike regular train services, this special tourist train offers an unforgettable ride through Sri Lanka’s misty mountains, lush tea plantations, waterfalls, and historic railway stations. It is expected to boost tourism in Nuwara Eliya, Ella, and Badulla, providing visitors with a seamless and scenic mode of transportation.
With the Ella Odyssey already being a favorite among travelers, this extension is set to further promote eco-friendly tourism and support the local economy.
